Hugo Ekitike and Andrew Robertson will return to the Liverpool starting lineup when they welcome PSV Eindhoven to Anfield on Wednesday.
Liverpool will be desperate to return to winning ways when they host PSV Eindhoven at Anfield on Wednesday night, looking to continue a decent start to the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League campaign. Arne Slot has no new issues to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Giovanni Leoni is a long-term absentee due to a knee injury. The Italian international will not play again for the Merseyside outfit in the 2025/26 season. Meanwhile, Conor Bradley (thigh), Jeremie Frimpong (hamstring), and Florian Wirtz (muscular) remain in the treatment room.
With Bradley and Frimpong unavailable, the talking point in recent pressers has been the solution to the right-back woes. That was also the case in Slot’s latest pre-match press conference, as he discussed the possibility of handing Joe Gomez a start.
The Liverpool manager said, “He is one of the five defenders we have [available]. Normally I wouldn’t go into detail maybe that much but he had an injection last week on his knee. So, that means that’s normally not because you don’t feel anything.”
“Apart from maybe me making the decision to play Dom [Szoboszlai] or someone else in that position, this is also to do with him not being completely fit. Although, he is in the group tomorrow, as he was on Saturday. But [he] wasn’t able to train last week every single time.”
Slot spoke further on the right-back conundrum. The Liverpool boss said, “He [Szoboszlai] is one of the options I have [at right-back] but it’s also clear that Dom is very good in other areas of the pitch.”
“I was expecting, which turned out to be true, that we had a lot of ball possession against Forest, so he could from that full-back position attack a lot. Which is also what he did, especially in the first half I think we were very dangerous over our right side. Over our left side, by the way, as well. That Dom can play in multiple positions, that’s clear. Let’s see where we use him tomorrow. But I am going to use him, that’s for sure.”
Alisson Becker is an automatic pick between the sticks, and Liverpool will line up in a 4-3-3 formation in front of him against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday. The backline will feature Calvin Ramsay, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, and Andrew Robertson.
As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai. Finally, Hugo Ekitike will replace Alexander Isak as the central striker, with Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo being the two wide attackers. Isak and Federico Chiesa will be the backup options on the bench for the home side.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Ramsay, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch; Salah, Ekitike, Gakpo
