Arsenal are rumoured to be considering Simone Inzaghi as Mikel Arteta’s potential replacement should the two parties fall apart.
According to Tuttosport via Sport Witness, Simone Inzaghi is being considered as a solid candidate to replace Mikel Arteta should he leave Arsenal. Both those managers are settled in their jobs at the current moment, although the pressure might be mounting on the Spaniard to deliver trophies in nporth London.
Mikel Arteta’s job is not an easy one, as managing a club like Arsenal does come with massive pressure on his shoulders. He has done a fabulous job in the five years he has been here, with the Spaniard credited for the way he has gone about rebuilding this Gunners squad.
Arsenal are one of the most defensively sound sides in the top five leagues, while they have also managed to break their scoring records in the past two seasons. Last term, the Gunners conceded the least amount of goals while netting the second-best tally behind eventual champions Manchester City.
Manchester City have been interested in Arteta before, as they were considering him to replace Pep Guardiola before both managers signed new contracts. Arteta signed his earlier in the season, which will keep him at the club at least until 2027. The Spaniard has also seen links to PSG and Barcelona but was never close to leaving Arsenal.
However, in the five years he has been at the club, the board has backed him with massive funds, but so far, he has delivered just one FA Cup. Hence, the pressure might be on Arteta to deliver major trophies this season as the report suggests in the absence of titles, Arsenal might think about a change.
Simone Inzaghi linked with replacing Arteta
Much like Arteta, Inzaghi has done a fantastic job at Inter Milan, helping them win the Scudetto last season as well as reaching the Champions League Final the year before. He has a contract at the San Siro until 2027, and the club have no intention of losing him anytime soon. He was previously linked with Manchester United, while Tottenham are also being considered as suitors.
The same might be the case at Arsenal, as they have complete faith in Arteta irrespective of how this season transpires. While Inzaghi will be a top candidate to replace the Spaniard, the likelihood of it happening next summer seems remote, as both clubs are currently satisfied with how their respective managers operate.
