Arsenal approach Luis Campos to replace Edu Gaspar

Arsenal have reached out to PSG chief Luis Campos to be their new sporting director following Edu Gaspar’s departure.

According to a report from Football Transfers, Arsenal have approached PGS chief Luis Campos to replace Edu Gaspar who has parted ways with the club. With the Portuguese transfer guru’s contract at the French club running out, Mikel Arteta is pushing to bring him to the Premier League.

Edu officially parted ways with the North London club earlier in the month to take up a global role at Nottingham Forest’s multi-club network. His sudden departure has left a massive void at Arsenal and they are keen on replacing the sporting director with the best possible alternative.

Luis Campos has emerged as an ideal candidate to take over from Edu. The 60-year-old has an impressive track record as a transfer guru and a sporting director. He is currently a strategic advisor at PSG but his three-year contract runs out at the end of the season.

The French giants and their president Nasser Al-Khelaifi have informed the Portuguese expert that they want to extend his stay at the club. While both parties have held talks about a potential renewal, nothing has come of it as yet.

Arsenal are trying to lure Campos to England

With Campos yet to commit his future to PSG, Arsenal are exploring the possibility of appointing him as a replacement for Edu. Mikel Arteta is the one driving the Gunners’ interest in the 60-year-old.

He is a big admirer of the PSG chief having seen him build two title-winning teams in Ligue 1 at AS Monaco and LOSC Lille before doing wonders at the Paris-based club.

He has completed a major overhaul at his current club and his ability to sign young stars along with undervalued talents who eventually turn into elite performers hasn’t gone unnoticed. His qualities make him an ideal fit for Arsenal who operate quite a similar way as a club.

While snatching him from the jaws of PSG won’t be easy, Campos has long held an interest in working in the Premier League which could work in the North London club’s favour.
