FA are interested in appointing former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel as England’s next head coach.
According to a report from Fichajes, The Football Association are looking at Thomas Tuchel as an ideal candidate to be the next head coach of England. It has been a while since Gareth Southgate parted ways with the Three Lions, and the search for a new boss continues with the former Chelsea manager leading the race at this stage.
Southgate might not have won a major trophy with the England team. But he did play a big part in establishing them as one of the best teams in the international stage. Under his guidance, they made it to the 2018 World Cup semi-final and the Euro 2022 and 2024 finals.
After managing them in over 100 games, the 54-year-old left the job in mid-July. Lee Carsley, who was managing the Under-21, has taken over as the interim boss for the Nations League fixtures as England’s search for the next boss continues.
Multiple reports suggest that they could wait until the turn of the calendar to appoint their next permanent head coach. While there is no clarity over when the boss will be appointed, their search has led them to Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel could be the next England head coach
The 51-year-old German manager has been without the job since leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season. While he has been linked with the Manchester United job as Erik ten Hag’s position is under scrutiny, the report suggests that the FA are interested in appointing him as the head coach of the England national team.
Tuchel has a lot of experience in managing some top clubs. He has been in charge of Bayern Munich, PSG, Borussia Dortmund as well as Chelsea. The fact that he enjoyed a lot of success with the Blues and even guided them to the Champions League title in 2021 can work in his favour.
The German tactician will surely have an advantage over other candidates having done well in the English top flight. He is on the lookout for a new role and having worked with quite a few English stars, Tuchel does seem to be a great option. But, it will be interesting to see if he is ready to take up the job of managing a national side.
