Manchester City willing to offer rolling contract to Pep Guardiola to secure long-term future

Manchester City are ready to devise the idea of a ‘rolling contract’ for Pep Guardiola in an attempt to convince the Catalan to stay.

According to TBR, Manchester City are willing to offer a ‘tolling contract’ to convince Pep Guardiola to continue. The Catalan has yet to commit to a new deal at the Etihad, and his current agreement expires on June 30, 2025.

Manchester City fans are anxious about Pep Guardiola’s future. The Catalan has yet to indicate anything about a new contract at the club, although the Premier League holders are trying their best to convince him to stay put and extend his deal.

One source of optimism might come from the fact that Guardiola had renewed his last two deals at the Etihad during the winter months, and that might well be the case for a third time. However, there’s a lot more riding on his renewal this time around, as he might also be waiting to see how the court case between Manchester City and the Premier League pans out regarding the 115 charges levied on the club.

Manchester City are ready to hand Guardiola an improved contract, which would let him increase his current salary and keep his status as the Premier League’s highest-paid manager. To ease the burden on the eight-season key man, the club are reportedly willing to devise a plan that would suit their manager.

Manchester City are ready to offer Guardiola a ‘rolling contract’, which means a one-year deal that could be renewed every season. Such an arrangement also allows Guardiola to leave anytime he wants, but it’s not something that has crossed the minds of both parties.

Manchester City also thinking about alternatives

There are suggestions that Guardiola could depart after the current season, which happens to be his ninth with Manchester City. The aforementioned 115 charges case could also affect his decision-making, which has prompted the club to look at alternatives. They held an interest in Mikel Arteta, but the Arsenal man seems out of bounds, especially having signed a new deal himself at the Emirates.

Julian Nagelsmann is a reported target, while Girona’s Michel is also being considered should Guardiola depart in the summer. For now, Manchester City are only hoping for Guardiola to renew at all costs, as money is not the matter in his decision making. Things could get clearer as the season progresses, as many would expect a decision to arrive in the second part of the campaign.
