Chelsea will not launch the offensive for either Sebastian Hoeness or Michel to replace Mauricio Pochettino this summer.
According to a report by the Daily Telegraph, Sebastian Hoeness and Michel have been two of the managers on the radar of Chelsea this summer. However, the Blues have cooled their interest in the two managers, with Kieran McKenna, Enzo Maresca, and Thomas Frank becoming the top targets to replace Mauricio Pochettino.
Sebastian Hoeness has enjoyed an unbelievable campaign with VfB Stuttgart this season, guiding Die Schwaben to an impressive second-placed finish in the Bundesliga, with bigwigs like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund finishing behind his team. The German tactician’s exploits have raised his stature in the managerial world.
On the other hand, Michel, like Hoeness, has done an exceptional job with Girona this season. One of the candidates to finish in the mid-table positions, the White and Reds have clinched an unthinkable third-place finish in La Liga, finishing ahead of Atletico Madrid in the standings.
So, it is hardly surprising that Michel and Sebastian Hoeness have become hot properties in the managerial market this summer, especially with several clubs parting ways with their managers in the last few weeks. Michel, in particular, has been on Chelsea’s radar for several weeks.
However, Mauricio Pochettino’s surprising departure this week has brought several managers on Chelsea’s wishlist, with widespread reports linking the West London club with nearly a dozen tacticians, including Sebastian Hoeness. However, neither Hoeness nor Michel will join Chelsea ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The Blues have finalised a four-manager list to eventually zero in on their ideal candidate to replace Pochettino at the helm at Stamford Bridge. Kieran McKenna, Enzo Maresca, and Thomas Frank have now become the top targets for Chelsea as the West London giants look to fill the vacancy after Pochettino’s departure.
Talks with these managers should be on the cards in the coming weeks. However, Sebastian Hoeness and Michel will likely remain at their respective clubs in the 2024/25 season as they look to guide those teams to the UEFA Champions League. It will be interesting to see who replaces Pochettino at Stamford Bridge.
