Liverpool are reportedly in contact with former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca as they add the Italian to their growing list of new managers.
According to Anfield Watch, Paulo Fonseca emerges on Liverpool’s shortlist, as the clubb are in contact with the Italian. The current LOSC Lille manager is one of the many names considered to replace Jurgen Klopp, with Ruben Amorim no longer being an option, as per multiple sources.
Paulo Fonseca on Liverpool’s radar?
The Liverpool managerial merry-go-around seemed to have ended with a rumoured agreement with Ruben Amorim, but that may not be the case. The Portuguese may not join the Reds in the summer, and instead, he’s holding talks with West Ham in what appears like a shock move.
With Amorim gone from Liverpool’s reported targets, more names are coming to the fore, including that of Paulo Fonseca. The former Roma and current LOSC Lille have emerged as options for the Merseysiders to consider, for his style of play and experience in knockout football are reportedly regarded as big factors in the hunt.
Fonseca was linked with Tottenham back in 2021, but since then never made it to English football despite a few more connections, such as to Crystal Palace last summer. The Liverpool links are a bit of a shock to the neutrals and the Merseyside fanbase, as he’s not particularly a big name to replace Klopp in the dugout.
Liverpool have reportedly contacted Fonseca to understand his ideas and availability to leave Lille in the close season. There’s no agreement between the two parties, as the club are considering their options in the market, as they are linked with a few more important names in recent days.
Arne Slot and Roberto De Zerbi also options
Roberto De Zerbi emerged on Liverpool’s radar ever since Xabi Alonso made his decision to stay at Bayer Leverkusen beyond the current season. In recent times, the Reds have reportedly cooled their interest in the Brighton boss, although he might re-emerge on their radar as the season winds down.
Former Tottenham target and Feyenoord’s title-winning coach Arne Slot is also an option, with the Dutchman linked with leaving the Eredivisie side in the close season. He, too, can be considered a good, progressive option for Liverpool to look at, as only time will tell who the club close in on and replace Klopp with.
