Liverpool CEO of football Michael Edwards is confident about appointing Ruben Amorim as their new manager.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Liverpool are closing in on the signatures of Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim. The 39-year-old is their priority target to take over from Jurgen Klopp, who will be leaving at the end of the season. And the Reds are quite optimistic about landing the Portuguese manager at Anfield.

Amorim has done wonders at Sporting CP over the years. He has already helped them win four major titles, and they are on course for the fifth with the club leading the race for the Portuguese league title.

While Amorim does not have a lot of experience as a manager, his impressive track record is what attracts the Merseyside club. Moreover, his style of play is quite similar to that of Jurgen Klopp.

The Sporting boss prefers to have a fluid front three, he likes to press high up the field and wants every player to contribute to the defensive side of things irrespective of their position on the pitch. Liverpool want to ensure they get the best possible replacement so that they can maintain the levels reached during the nine-year-long stint of Klopp.

Ruben Amorim to be offered a three-year deal

Xabi Alonso was their priority target to take over from Klopp. But the former Liverpool midfielder has committed his future to Bayer Leverkusen. He was offered a three-year deal by the Reds, but he decided to turn it down.

The report states that the Merseyside club are all set to put forward the same three-year deal to Amorim as their CEO Michael Edwards steps up his efforts to finalise a manager for next season as soon as possible.

Liverpool and the 39-year-old’s representatives have already held positive talks, and the Reds are now quite confident about securing his services. While they are still looking at other managerial options, the Merseyside club feel Amorim will agree to the three-year contract they are set to offer him.

Meanwhile, even if he does put pen to paper, no official announcement is expected until the end of the season as both teams are chasing domestic titles.
