Manchester United players feel Dutch manager Erik ten Hag will not be in charge of the club for the 2024/25 season.

According to a report by The Sun, Erik ten Hag’s future has been the talk of the town ever since Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS completed the purchase of a minority stake in the club. The Dutch manager hasn’t been able to get the desired results and with his team struggling he could be shown the exit door after the end of the season.

Erik ten Hag’s time at United to end soon?

Ten Hag took charge of United in the summer of 2022 after an impressive spell at Ajax. He took some bold calls in his very first season at the club and managed to put together a decent first season. They won a trophy and qualified for the Champions League by finishing in the top four of the Premier League.

Unfortunately, the second season hasn’t gone according to the plan. United have been struggling and their new part-owners are considering making a managerial change. Sir Jim Ratcliffe was asked about the future of Ten Hag at the club and he refused to deliver a public vote of confidence for the Dutch manager.

Meanwhile, the players at the club have spotted a change in mood of their manager which suggests that he is aware that the axe will eventually fall. While Ten Hag is confident of keeping his place on the bench and has made public statements which suggest that he has the backing of the new owners, the reality might be different.

His players fear the Dutch manager is already aware of what the future holds for him. He will be shown the exit door with his team struggling to get going. Unless there is a major turnaround in terms of results which looks likely, Ten Hag is not expected to be their boss when the next season gets underway.

Manchester United want Graham Potter

The purchase of a minority stake in United also gives Ratcliffe full control over their sporting decisions. As a result, they have been planning major changes on and off the field. They have been on the lookout for a new boss since the start and Graham Potter is their priority target.

The former Chelsea boss has had a meeting with Ratcliffe and he is in line to take over as their new manager. He was recently offered the job at Ajax but he has rejected the opportunity. Things might not have worked out for him at the London club but he is determined to manage a top club and prove his credentials.
