Manchester United assistant coach Eric Ramsay has agreed to become Minnesota United manager as he will depart shortly.

There is a significant influx of top-rated assistant managers leaving their current roles and taking over as head coaches at various clubs at different levels. Arsenal’s Carlos Cuesta remains linked with the Norwich City role, while Liverpool’s Pep Lijnders also has extensive links.
Now Manchester United’s key member of the coaching staff, Eric Ramsay, has an offer from Minnesota United in the MLS, and Erik ten Hag’s assistant has reportedly agreed to it. The 32-year-old will likely jump at the opportunity to manage a senior side, albeit in the MLS.
The current Manchester United man could get a more significant role in the future, as a move to Minnesota United could benefit the long road to a big club ahead of him. The experience of managing a senior side will play a significant role for him in the future.
Eric Ramsay to create MLS history
Ramsay has enjoyed his time in and around English football in many roles. He was previously at Chelsea, Swansea City, and Shrewsbury Town. He has been at Manchester United for more than three years after initially joining them as a player development and set-piece coach under then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back in 2021.
Despite the Norwegian’s departure, the club retained him, and Ramsay has now become a key component of Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff. The move to Minnesota United came about when the MLS club’s interim coach, Sean McAuley, quit last month, and now Ramsay has agreed to take over as head coach.
Ramsay, who is the youngest coach ever to acquire the UEFA Pro License coaching credentials, will become the youngest head coach in MLS history at the age of 32. The move to the United States may be a stepping stone for the 32-year-old as he hopes for bigger things to come in the future.
