West Ham United have been linked with a move for Julen Lopetegui, who has snubbed Crystal Palace to wait for the Hammers.

A report from Football Insider has claimed that Julen Lopetegui had the opportunity to join Crystal Palace. But he has rejected the offer from the South London club and is waiting to join West Ham United.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are set to replace Roy Hodgson with Oliver Glasner, who is also an accomplished manager. The Hammers might need to part ways with David Moyes soon. The Scottish manager has failed to get the best out of his players this season, and the Hammers are winless in their last eight matches across all competitions.

Given the squad at their disposal, they should be doing far better and competing for European qualification. If things do not improve drastically, Moyes will find himself out of a job soon, and Lopetegui has been tipped as a potential replacement.

The 57-year-old has worked in the Premier League before with Wolves, and he is keen on the West Ham job. It will be interesting to see if the Hammers decide to appoint the former Real Madrid boss as their next manager. Recent reports have claimed that they want an Unai Emery-esque appointment.

Lopetegui would be an ambitious appointment

There is no doubt that the Spaniard has proven himself in the past. He was quite successful for Sevilla, and he has the pedigree to thrive in the Premier League as well. The arrival of the former Real Madrid manager could help attract technically gifted players from Spain next season. West Ham could certainly use some technical ability in their squad.

The Hammers need more quality in the midfield and the attack. Someone like Lopetegui could identify the weaknesses in the squad and plug the gaps during the summer transfer window. West Ham have considerable resources as well, and they will be able to back the Spanish manager in the market.

He was previously unhappy with the backing at Wolves and decided to leave the club because his ambitions did not align with that of the Black Country outfit. West Ham are certainly an ambitious club, and it remains to be seen whether they can get a deal for the 57-year-old manager across the line. The Hammers have been linked with managers like Graham Potter as well.
