Fabrizio Romano dismisses Barcelona’s purported interest in former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Antonio Conte.

Xavi has already decided on his future, with 2023/24 his final season as Barcelona’s manager. The decision has come as a surprise to the people at the club, but they have enough time to prepare. The Catalan giants are on the lookout for a new manager, and they have been linked with Antonio Conte. Reports suggest they have been offered the services of the Italian manager, but Fabrizio Romano has denied the speculation.

Barcelona have not been able to replicate their performances from last season where they won the La Liga. They have been inconsistent, and winning a trophy this term looks a bit unlikely. While things can still end on a high, they are preparing to undergo another major change with Xavi leaving.

The former Spanish international feels he is not the right man to take Barcelona forward. While the club would have loved to have him on their bench for as long as possible, they have no other option than to look for a new boss.

Quite a few managers from across Europe have been linked with the role at the Spanish club, Antonio Conte is one of those names. The former Chelsea and Tottenham manager has been looking for a new role since parting ways with Spurs back in March last year.

He has a lot of experience managing some of the biggest clubs in world football. Apart from Tottenham, he has also managed Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan. Reports suggested that he was offered to the Catalan giants to replace Xavi at the end of the season.

But, Romano has revealed that these are just rumours, and nothing as such has happened. There is no contact between the two parties. The Italian manager is not on Barcelona’s radar. While he has had quite a lot of success as a manager, he might not be the ideal fit for them.

The transfer expert even ruled out the possibility of Thiago Motta taking charge at the Spanish club starting next season. With Conte and Motta out of the race, it will be interesting to see who becomes the next Barcelona manager.
