Darwin Nunez and Andrew Robertson will return to the Liverpool starting lineup when they welcome Burnley to Anfield on Saturday.
Liverpool are currently on top of the Premier League table, but they need to keep winning to stay there. They cannot afford to drop points against Burnley this weekend, and this is a must-win clash for them after the defeat to Arsenal last week.
The Reds will be without a number of players here. Stefan Bajcetic, Ben Doak and Joel Matip are long-term absentees for Liverpool. Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai are expected to return in the coming weeks. Ibrahima Konate was sent off against Arsenal, and he will miss out as well. Kostas Tsimikas continues his recovery from a broken collarbone, and he is not ready to return this weekend.
Thiago Alcantara returned from his injury against Arsenal but has picked up another muscle issue that will rule him out of the Burnley game. And Jurgen Klopp discussed Thiago’s issue during his pre-match press conference.
“We don’t know the extent yet. We have to wait there a little bit, but it’s not cool, of course,” Klopp told reporters of Thiago before continuing, “It was really not good news for him, for us, for everybody. On top of losing the game already and having that is not good.”
Conor Bradley has been given a leave of absence following the passing of his father. Meanwhile, Liverpool are likely to continue in their usual 4-3-3 formation, with Alisson Becker in goal. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will start as the full-backs here, and they will look to contribute at both ends of the pitch. Joe Gomez will start alongside Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the defence.
In the midfield, Alexis Mac Allister will look to control the tempo of the game and help out defensively. Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott will start alongside him, and the two players will look to add creativity and control to the midfield.
Darwin Nunez has been in impressive form this season and he will look to add to his goalscoring tally as the Uruguayan leads the attack for Liverpool against Burnley. Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota will start in the wide areas.
