Predicted Liverpool lineup against Nottingham Forest: Jones, Robertson out; Tsimikas to start

Kostas Tsimikas will feature in the Liverpool starting lineup when they welcome Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool picked up a morale-boosting win over Toulouse in the UEFA Europa League during the midweek and that will have added to their confidence and momentum ahead of the clash with Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds will be without the services of Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley and Ben Doak because of their respective injuries. Meanwhile, Curtis Jones is still sidelined as he serves the final game of his three-match Premier League suspension after picking up a red card against Tottenham Hotspur.

Andrew Robertson remains a long-term absentee following his shoulder surgery. Jurgen Klopp confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the players rested in the midweek are likely to start here.

“The boys who didn’t play [on Thursday] will have a proper session [on Friday], so that is good. So they stay in training,” explained Klopp of having a Thursday-Sunday schedule this season before continuing, “But if we would play always the same team, which we did in the past maybe in the Champions League more often, or stuff like this, then there is no training at all, it’s just recovery and go again.”

“So far we could do it like that, and because we don’t have too many injuries – it’s always too much but it’s still OK in the moment and hopefully it stays like that – that’s why we can do it. It means a lot of players who did not play [against Toulouse] will probably start on Sunday, so for them it’s fine.”

Liverpool are likely to shape up in their usual 4-3-3 formation, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kostas Tsimikas deployed as the full-backs. The two players will look to add creativity and defensive cover to the side.

Ibrahima Konate will start in the central defence alongside Virgil van Dijk. They were rested in the midweek and they will be fresh for this game. In the middle of the park, Wataru Endo is likely to be deployed as the defensive midfielder. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai will look to add creativity and control in the middle of the park.

Darwin Nunez continued his impressive form with a goal in the midweek Europa League clash, and he is likely to start here as well. Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz are likely to be deployed in the wide areas. Both players were rested in the midweek and they are set to start.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Tsimikas; Mac Allister, Endo, Szoboszlai; Salah, Nunez, Diaz
