Predicted Liverpool lineup against Tottenham: Alexander-Arnold to return; Thiago ruled out

Trent Alexander-Arnold will return to the Liverpool starting lineup against Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Tottenham Hotspur are in impressive form as well and they are unlikely to make life easy for Liverpool in Saturday’s game. The North London giants will fancy their chances of picking up all three points.

The Reds have been boosted with the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has been training normally with the squad. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the right-back will be a part of the squad against Tottenham.

However, Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara remain sidelined with injuries. Other than that, the Reds have a fully fit squad to choose from. Klopp provided updates on several players during his pre-match press conference.

He said, “Trent trained yesterday normal and will train today normal, and then we have to make a decision. He will be in the squad, I’m not a doctor so cannot make that decision, but it looks like he can be in the squad tomorrow and play.”

On Bajcetic, Klopp added, “Stefan had a little, little setback. The problem with Stefan is I can imagine everyone wants to see him play more – I want – but we have to be really careful. And now it’s a little, little, little tiny calf issue. That’s how it is when you are six months out.”

“And we try everything to get him up to speed without pushing him. We make a very specific plan for him but in the end it’s disappointing for him, of course, but for us as well that he got another one. So we have to take him out a little bit. He can work on pretty much everything else but not playing.”

Liverpool are likely to continue with the usual 4-3-3 formation, with Alisson Becker in goal. Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson are likely to be deployed as the full-backs here, and they will look to contribute offensively apart from the defensive duties. Ibrahima Konate will start alongside Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the defence.

In the midfield three, Alexis Mac Allister is likely to start in a holding role in the absence of a specialist defensive midfielder. Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones are likely to start alongside him, and the two players will look to add creativity, control and defensive work rate.

Darwin Nunez will look to continue his goalscoring form, and he is set to lead the line for the visitors here. Mohamed Salah will continue on the right with Luis Diaz on the left. So, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo will find themselves on the bench against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Allister, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Diaz
