Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bring in a new sporting director this summer and have identified Lee Dykes from Brentford as a target.

According to a report from The Guardian, Tottenham are looking at a number of candidates for the sporting director’s role after Fabio Paratici’s recent departure. They are keeping tabs on Tim Steidten as well.

The Italian was recently banned for his financial misdoings at Juventus, and he will not be able to take up the role of a sporting director for the next 30 months. Tottenham will have to replace him adequately, and Dykes could prove to be an interesting acquisition.

The 39-year-old has done an impressive job at Brentford, and he is currently their technical director. Prior to that, he was in charge of recruitment at the London club for three years.

Tottenham must look to bring in someone who can sign quality players for a reasonable price and help rebuild the side. Brentford have put together a talented squad on a shoestring budget and Tottenham could certainly benefit from his expertise in the coming seasons.

The North London giants will need to bring in a quality manager as well. They are yet to appoint a replacement for Antonio Conte who was sacked earlier this season. Former midfielder Ryan Mason is currently the caretaker manager at the club.

The report from The Guardian claims that Tottenham wanted to appoint Julian Nagelsmann as their next manager. But the German tactician has walked away from the job because of the absence of a sporting director at the club. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are ready to pursue the former Bayern Munich boss once again after a directorial appointment this summer.

Dykes has proven his quality with Brentford. And the opportunity to join a big club could be an attractive option for him. Tottenham certainly have more resources compared to Brentford. So Dykes will fancy his chances of making a big impact at the London club next season.

The report from The Guardian claims that Tottenham will have to pay substantial compensation in order to bring the 39-year-old to the club this summer. And it remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy is willing to loosen his purse strings in the summer.
