A report from Food Mercato claims that Real Madrid have been in touch with Zinedine Zidane recently as they look to bring in a potential replacement for Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian manager has been linked with a move to the Brazilian national team, and Real Madrid will have to start planning for his departure.
Zidane is one of the most successful managers in Real Madrid’s history, having guided them to multiple Champions League titles and domestic trophies during his previous two spells with the club. It remains to be seen whether the 50-year-old Frenchman is open to taking over for a third spell at Real Madrid.
The French manager is a huge fan favourite at Real Madrid, and his return is likely to be welcomed back by the fans as well. Apparently, Zidane was hoping to take over at the French national team. But an impressive World Cup campaign has convinced the French football federation to persist with Didier Deschamps.
A return to Real Madrid will not be be a bad option for Zidane. But it remains to be seen whether he is prepared to finalise an agreement in the coming months. The reigning La Liga champions have also shown interest in several managers, including Mikel Arteta.
