Real Madrid contemplating Jurgen Klopp appointment

Real Madrid might mull over appointing Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to the hot seat when Carlo Ancelotti leaves.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Jurgen Klopp is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are considering appointing the Liverpool manager as a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti. And Florentino Perez will take a closer look at the 55-year-old during the upcoming UEFA Champions League clash.

Jurgen Klopp is one of the greatest managers of his generation, having gone from strength to strength in the last two decades. The German tactician rose to prominence during his stint with FSV Mainz. And after a solid seven-year stint with Mainz, he moved to Borussia Dortmund in July 2008.

The 55-year-old enjoyed a fruitful spell with Borussia Dortmund, temporarily ending Bayern Munich’s hegemony in Bundesliga. During Klopp’s stint, Dortmund won two league titles apart from two other trophies. But the manager’s best phase has come during his ongoing reign as the Liverpool boss.

The former Dortmund manager has a superb record of 253 wins in 420 games as the Liverpool boss. And his best achievement has been ending Liverpool’s two-decade-long wait to win the Premier League title in 2019/20. In addition, Klopp has overseen six other trophy-winning campaigns.

At the same time, the 55-year-old has guided Liverpool to two other runs to the final of the UEFA Champions League while winning the competition in 2018/19. But amid a dreadful 2022/23 season, Klopp’s long-term Liverpool future is uncertain. And that has piqued the interest of Real Madrid.

Real Madrid might delve into the manager market for a long-term replacement for Carlo Ancelotti. While the Italian tactician has enjoyed a successful return to the Santiago Bernabeu, he has endured a difficult 2022/23 campaign. And Ancelotti might leave Real Madrid if they fail to win any trophy this term.

The reigning La Liga champions are also showing interest in other managers, including Mauricio Pochettino. Meanwhile, Real Madrid will get a closer look at Klopp and Liverpool during the upcoming UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday. And it will be interesting to see if the German tactician leaves Liverpool to join Real Madrid anytime soon.
