Tottenham Hotspur are interested in appointing 64-year-old Italian manager Maurizio Sarri as a replacement for Antonio Conte.

According to a report by Calciomercatoweb, Tottenham Hotspur are considering the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as their new manager in the summer. With all the speculations around Antonio Conte’s future at the club, Spurs have their eyes set on the former Premier League manager.

Maurizio Sarri took charge of Lazio back in the summer of 2021. The Serie A club has featured in 78 matches under his stewardship. During his time at Stadio Olimpico, Sarri has only lost 21 matches. He has come out on top in 35 fixtures and drawn the remaining 22.

In the ongoing season, Sarri’s men have won 14 out of their 30 matches. They have a decent record in Serie A with 11 wins out of 22 matches and have only lost five. The 64-year-old manager has been on point with his tactical masterclass and has given fans a lot of hope.

Lazio are currently sixth in the league and have a nine-point cushion over the 7th-placed team. As a result, they are most likely to finish within the top six. However, they can still push for a UEFA Champions League spot, as they are just two points behind third-placed Atalanta.

Meanwhile, the former Chelsea boss has a contract with the club until the summer of 2025. But, he might leave in the summer given the interest from Premier League side Tottenham. Sarri prefers to use the 4-3-3 formation and believes in building from the back. That can surely help Spurs revive themselves and once again challenge for the top honours.

Antonio Conte is not a certainty at Spurs for the next season. AC Milan are interested in bringing Conte back to Italy following the disappointing results of the team under Stefano Pioli. If the current Tottenham boss decides to take the job at Milan, the Londoners will most likely push for Sarri.

However, it is a very complicated situation and depends on how the teams end the season. If Lazio manage to finish in a Champions League spot, Sarri’s departure will be unlikely. As far as Tottenham are concerned, they will try their best to stick with Conte given the improvement of late and the investment into the project at hand.
