Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly interested in appointing AS Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell.
As per Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Manchester United are among several Premier League clubs that are interested in getting AS Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell on board. Ralf Rangnick approves of Mitchell, who has previously worked with Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and RB Leipzig.
Manchester United have now gone nine years without a Premier League title and a major summer overhaul in all departments is due. While multiple players will arrive at and depart from Old Trafford, there will be changes in the managerial department and backroom staff as well.
Ralf Rangnick will step down from his interim role after the ongoing season with Ajax manager Erik ten Hag set to take over permanently. The Dutch tactician is also expected to bring his support staff along.
Moreover, Manchester United are looking at appointing former Tottenham head of recruitment Paul Mitchell to help improve their recruitment. Mitchell worked under Rangnick at Leipzig, and the German tactician has recommended him to the club.

Notably, the current AS Monaco sporting director was at Tottenham Hotspur when the north London club signed the likes of Son Heung-min, Dele Alli and Toby Alderweireld. It gives a good account of the 40-year-old, who has been with Monaco since 2020.
Mithcell was also reportedly approached by Newcastle United in December last year, but he chose to stay with Monaco. Manchester United were also said to be monitoring him back then.
Manchester United need to get back to challenging for the Premier League title, and a complete reset could pave the way. With a new managerial appointment, the club have the opportunity to start afresh and patiently make their way back to the upper echelons of European football.
They are currently running the danger of missing out on Champions League football next season. The Red Devils are fifth on the table, three points off fourth-placed Tottenham. Their next league assignment is a daunting trip to Anfield, where Manchester United will want to spoil Liverpool’s title challenge while improving their chances of finishing in the top four.
