Raphael Varane is set to return to the lineup while Marcus Rashford should also feature from kick-off when Manchester United face Leeds United.

Manchester United will be aiming to strengthen their grip on the fourth spot in the Premier League table when they lock horns with arch-rivals Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday noon.

Heading into the game, Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has greeted some positive news on the injury front as Raphael Varane is back in contention after recovering from a stomach bug. Nemanja Matic has also returned to training and will be available for selection, but Edinson Cavani and Tom Heaton have been ruled out.

“Well, as it seems, Edinson Cavani will still be out. He is still having some problems with his groin and, on the other hand, also some with his stomach. The same is true with Tom Heaton,” Rangnick said in his presser.

“Apart from that, everybody else seems to be available. Nemanja Matic was back in training today for the first time and he did quite well, so he might be available maybe even for Sunday against Leeds, but definitely in the next two games.”

With Varane back, he should start at the heart of the Manchester United defence, with Victor Lindelof dropping out. Harry Maguire, who has been in the news due to the rumours of a rift with Cristiano Ronaldo, should partner the Frenchman. Diogo Dalot is a certain starter at right-back, but Alex Telles could replace Luke Shaw on the left. David de Gea is a guaranteed starter between the sticks.

Moving into the middle of the park, Scott McTominay should be a shoo-in at the base of the three-man midfield unit. Bruno Fernandes will be the creator-in-chief for the Red Devils, lining up alongside Paul Pogba in the centre of the pitch, which would mean Fred will have to suffice with a place on the bench.

Going into the attacking unit, Jadon Sancho, who has found his goalscoring boots of late, should hold on to his place on the left flank. Cristiano Ronaldo, who was on target against Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this week to end a six-game drought, will line up as the No. 9 as usual. But there should be a change on the right-wing, with Marcus Rashford expected to come into the side in place of Anthony Elanga.

Manchester United Predicted XI: De Gea, Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Telles, Fernandes, McTominay, Pogba, Rashford, Ronaldo, Sancho
