Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in a move for veteran midfielder James Milner, who could call time on his Liverpool stint in the summer.

According to Fichajes, there is strong interest from Premier League clubs in veteran midfielder James Milner. The Liverpool star could depart the club as both parties have yet to agree on a new deal, with the current one running out in the summer.

James Milner has proved age is just a number as he continues impressing in a Liverpool shirt. Having spent his entire career in the Premier League with multiple clubs, including Aston Villa, Manchester City and the Reds, the veteran midfielder aims to keep playing in the top flight for the foreseeable future.

While he won several trophies at Manchester City, it is at Liverpool, where he has enjoyed the most fruitful time of his career. Milner has won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League with the Merseyside giants and performed admirably under Jurgen Klopp.

The German manager is a big fan of the Englishman, having used him in multiple roles over the years. Milner can slot in as a wide-attacker, central midfielder or even as a full-back and has not let age get in the way of delivering top-notch performances. However, he could leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

While Liverpool are exploring targets such as Jude Bellingham, they remain keen to continue their association with Milner. But both parties are yet to agree on a renewal. The veteran midfielder’s contract ends in the summer, and it could be time he departs Anfield to further his career in the Premier League.

Klopp, in particular, value Milner highly, although they are aware of the need to replace him with a younger option at some point. Liverpool are also linked with Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, who could potentially be Milner’s long-term replacement at the club.

As for Milner, he can continue his Premier League career with Crystal Palace, while Watford are also reportedly interested if he departs Liverpool. But Watford are not guaranteed to stay up in the Premier League for the 2022/23 season, which leaves Crystal Palace as a realistic destination.

Palace have been progressing well under Patrick Vieira this term and could do with the useful addition of Milner in their squad. The Liverpool veteran could bring leadership and experience to the table for the Londoners, who could be vying for European places next season.

However, there is still time before the summer transfer window opens, and Milner could yet renew with Liverpool. If he does not, then Crystal Palace could put themselves in the driver’s seat in the race to sign him, as he remains keen to continue playing in the top-flight.
