Manchester United are interested in making a move for West Ham United’s impressive winger Jarrod Bowen in the summer transfer window.

According to Calciomercato, Premier League giants Manchester United are keeping tabs on West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen as they head into the summer transfer window.

The Englishman moved to the Hammers from Championship side Hull City in the winter transfer window of 2020. He has since made 87 appearances for David Moyes’ side, scoring 20 goals and setting up 20 more. Primarily a right winger, he has developed into a versatile attacker who can also perform as an attacking midfielder or start up front as a striker.

In fact, the 25-year-old has taken his performances up a notch this season. With 11 goals and ten assists in 30 appearances, he has performed better than any other English player in the current campaign. This is a particularly sobering stat for Manchester United, given the money they spent on Jadon Sancho last summer.

While the former Borussia Dortmund man could yet come good, Bowen is arguably the best English winger in the league at the moment. The Red Devils lack imagination in attack, and signing the Hammers ace in the summer could help address that issue.

Cristiano Ronaldo is entering the final phase of his career, while Marcus Rashford and Sancho have flattered to deceive. Anthony Martial’s future remains unclear, while Mason Greenwood is suspended indefinitely. With Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard set to leave in the summer, the Manchester United attack is in need of a revamp.

A goalscorer and a creator, Bowen is exactly what the Red Devils need. An excellent crosser of the ball and a capable set-piece taker, he has all the tools in his kitty to succeed at the Theatre of Dreams. There is no reason he cannot take the next step in his development under the right guidance.

The Red Devils are likely to face competition from arch-rivals Liverpool, who are keeping tabs on Bowen’s progress. The Reds certainly represent a better sporting project at this point in time, and Manchester United will have a battle on their hands to convince the winger to move to Old Trafford. Given his importance to West Ham and their future aspirations, it will not come as a surprise if they fight tooth and nail to keep hold of him.
