Transfer News: Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham keen on Real Madrid ace Miguel Gutierrez

Arsenal offer €47 million to sign Chelsea target Riccardo Calafiori, told to pay more.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs in contention to sign Real Madrid starlet Miguel Gutierrez.

According to Fichajes, Miguel Gutierrez is facing an uncertain future at Real Madrid. The youngster has faced complete ostracisation from current manager Carlo Ancelotti, which has put a number of clubs on red alert. Gutierrez’s current deal at Madrid expires in 2024, with the player reportedly having a €40 million release clause.

Real Madrid are not averse to sanctioning a sale for Gutierrez in the summer, with a potential repurchase option embedded in the deal. The youngster has no shortage of suitors either, with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea among the clubs interested in acquiring his services next season.

A left-back by trade, Gutierrez is regarded as one of the most promising young players to come out of Real Madrid’s esteemed La Fabrica academy. He was given his big break by Zinedine Zidane last season, with the youngster making six league appearances.

However, things have gone rather sour under the new coach Ancelotti. Gutierrez has featured in only 281 minutes of league football this term. While he is considered third choice for good reasons, it appears Real Madrid are set to look into the market for a replacement for Marcelo next summer, with the club reportedly keeping tabs on Fran Garcia.

The potential addition of a new left-back would dwindle Gutierrez’s chances of making a breakthrough at the Santiago Bernabeu next season, thus opening the door for a potential move away from the club.

Reports suggest Arsenal were close to paying the youngster’s staggering €40 million release clause last summer before they ended up settling for Nuno Tavares. However, with the Portuguese starlet struggling upon his move to the Emirates, coupled with the exit of Sead Kolasinac, the Gunners could re-enter the market for Miguel Gutierrez after the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur, too, are on the hunt for a new left-back who can provide competition for Sergio Reguilon. Spurs has been linked with a move for RB Leipzig starlet Josko Gvardiol, but the Croat only joined the Bundesliga outfit last summer and is unlikely to leave the club anytime soon.

Someone like Gutierrez could prove to be an interesting alternative, although the Real Madrid youngster is also courted by Chelsea. The Blues were desperately looking for a left-back in January in light of Ben Chilwell’s season-long absence. While the Englishman is set to return to fitness in the summer, Thomas Tuchel could be keen on replacing Marcos Alonso.

The German tactician is already looking at Marc Cucurella as a potential replacement for the former Fiorentina star. But in Gutierrez, he could find himself a cost-effective alternative, although it remains to be seen whether Real Madrid are open to lowering the player’s €40 million release clause next summer.
