Transfer News: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool tracking Serge Gnabry

Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Liverpool are reportedly closely monitoring the situation of 26-year-old German international Serge Gnabry at Bayern Munich.

According to a report by Sky Deutschland, several high profile clubs across Europe are tracking the situation of Serge Gnabry at Bayern Munich. The 26-year-old German international wants to stay put at the Allianz Arena but will only commit his future to the Bavarian giants if they offer him an acceptable contract.

Serge Gnabry has gone from a promising yet inconsistent attacker to an authoritative, all-conquering forward. The German international is now a pivotal figure for club and country, having gone from strength to strength in the last four years.

The 26-year-old has a record of 59 goals and 37 assists in 154 appearances during his stint with Bayern Munich. But the Bavarian giants are in a spot of bother over Gnabry’s long-term future, as he has entered the final 18 months of his contract. With talks over a renewal stalling of late, several European bigwigs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid and Liverpool, have set their sights on the player.

The interest from Barcelona comes in the wake of the uncertainties surrounding the future of Memphis Depay. The Dutchman’s form has tailed off following a strong start to his spell with Barcelona, and he could depart Camp Nou in the summer transfer window. Gnabry could be an upgrade on Depay if he arrives from Bayern Munich.

As for Real Madrid, the Merengues might need to enter the market for multiple attacking players. While Kylian Mbappe is expected to replace Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard’s uncertain future means the 26-year-old German international could be an option to take the struggling Belgian forward’s place in the squad, thereby making him a viable target.

Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United are also keen on signing Gnabry from Bayern Munich. The Reds might need to keep their options open if they cannot finalise terms over a renewal with Mohamed Salah, coincidentally a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid. And Gnabry is a viable option to be Salah’s long-term successor at Liverpool.

Manchester United’s interest in Gnabry could be stemming from the precarious situations of Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial. But despite attracting interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester United, the 26-year-old would prefer staying put at Bayern Munich.

However, he wants the Bavarian club to offer a contract that values him correctly to commit his long-term future. If not, suitors like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester United might fancy their chances of snapping him up on the cheap in the summer.
