Transfer News: Barcelona establish contact with Yuri Alberto

Barcelona and AC Milan are reportedly vying for the signature of Yuri Alberto, with the Blaugrana already establishing contact with the Brazilian striker.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Yuri Alberto is becoming a key target for Barcelona for the summer transfer window. The Catalan giants have already initiated contact with the Brazilian striker, termed the “new Pato” in his homeland.

Yuri Alberto has taken his game to the next level since joining Internacional from Santos in August 2020. A player who was showing gradual progress in his formative years has slowly been becoming a prolific striker, with his versatility also being one of his redeeming qualities.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a solid 2021 campaign with the Brazilian giants, amassing 19 goals and four assists in 55 appearances across all competitions. Alberto’s exploits have duly been noted by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, with Barcelona among his prospective suitors.

Barcelona will be entering the transfer market for a striker for a second successive summer transfer window following Sergio Aguero’s premature retirement. With Martin Braithwaite and Luuk de Jong facing uncertain futures at Camp Nou and unlikely to be at the club come the 2022/23 season, the Blaugrana must sign a striker in the summer.

Barcelona could even be forced to sign two strikers in the summer, with Ferran Torres possibly being an alternate option beyond those two. With that in mind, Alberto is a viable target for the La Liga heavyweights, who have recently been offered the chance to sign the Brazilian striker.

In addition to Alberto, the Catalan giants have also been linked with several other attackers of late, including Oihan Sancet. But it looks like the 20-year-old is becoming a key target for Barcelona, with the club already establishing contact with him over the prospect of a summer move.

Termed as the “next Pato”, Alberto is also a target for AC Milan, who will need to sign a striker in the summer, considering Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud are in the twilight of their careers. But with Barcelona already initiating contact with the young striker, the Rossoneri will need to step up to claw their way back in the race to sign him from Internacional.
