Arsenal have tabled a fresh offer worth €70 million for Dusan Vlahovic, including midfielder Lucas Torreira, as Fiorentina ponder on accepting it.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal have made a fresh proposal for striker Dusan Vlahovic as they look to sign him in the January window. The Gunners have presented the Serie A outfit with an offer worth €70 million with midfielder Lucas Torreira also included as part of the deal. Fiorentina are mulling over the bid and might sanction a permanent move for their star striker.

There could be significant movement at Arsenal with regards to their striker situation. The Gunners have a tricky problem at hand, which, if played right, could see a new frontman arriving and a few departing in January. Among those leaving the side could be Folarin Balogun, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Eddie Nketiah.

Aubameyang has been indefinitely axed from the side by Mikel Arteta and is a potential target for Newcastle United this month. Meanwhile, the out of favour Balogun could move on loan with Middlesbrough, an option from the Championship. A decision on Eddie Nketiah could also be made, considering he runs down his contract at the club at the end of the season.

Their primary target remains Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, for whom the Gunners had made a few enquiries in the past month or so. Despite reports emerging about the Serbian’s reticence to sign for Arsenal, it does seem like the Gunners are at the forefront of a transfer deal.

The north London side have tabled a fresh proposal worth €70 million for the striker. Various reports confirm the same, with the deal possibly including midfielder Lucas Torreira who is valued at €15 million. The Uruguayan has found his feet in Serie A since his loan move to Florence, which the club are keen to make permanent.

In addition to Torreira, Arsenal are prepared to offer €55 million in cash, which takes the deal up to €70 million. Such a proposal has been well-received by Fiorentina for the striker. They are now considering accepting in the coming days.

Reports were emerging from Italy that Vlahovic was keen to finish the season with Fiorentina as he eyes the top scorer prize and wants to help the club finish in the European spots. The Italian side may not get such a lucrative offer next summer when the Serbian will have only a year left on a deal, depleting his financial value.

If the strikers mentioned above leave in the January window, Arteta would have only Alexandre Lacazette as his senior forward. Moreover, the Frenchman’s deal ends after the current season, which points at huge activity on the striker front next summer.

It is no surprise Arsenal have decided to accelerate their plans to bring in a quality striker now rather than wait until the summer. It remains to be seen if Fiorentina accept the current offer or ask for more. At the same time, the final decision could lie with Vlahovic. It remains to be seen if he agrees to a move to Arsenal or waits for other suitors before determining his next permanent move.
