Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to offer up to €40 million to secure the services of 19-year-old Dutch prodigy Ryan Gravenberch.
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Real Madrid and Mino Raiola have continued their talks over a possible move for Ryan Gravenberch in the summer transfer window. The Spanish giants are prepared to pay up to €40 million, inclusive of add-ons, to sign the 19-year-old Ajax prodigy.
Ryan Gravenberch joined Ajax as an eight-year-old in 2010 and subsequently made swift progress through the ranks at the club’s famed academy. The teenage prodigy broke into the Dutch giants’ first-team squad in 2018 and has since established himself as a key figure at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
To date, the 19-year-old has turned out 86 times for Ajax, chipping in with ten goals and ten assists along the way. However, Gravenberch’s spell with the Dutch club could draw to a close in the summer. That is because he is reportedly not inclined to sign a new contract, with his current deal expiring in June 2023. The Dutchman’s situation has captured the attention of Real Madrid.
The interest from Real Madrid is understandable, considering Luka Modric is in the twilight of his illustrious career. In addition, Toni Kroos is well into his thirties and will likely start getting phased out of the first-team picture in a few years.
With Dani Ceballos and Isco expected to depart the Santiago Bernabeu in one of the two transfer windows this year, Real Madrid must invest in a midfielder in the summer. To that end, Gravenberch has emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid, who have already opened talks with his agent, Mino Raiola, over a possible transfer.
According to Rudy Galetti, discussions between Real Madrid and Raiola are advancing positively. And the reputed Italian journalist has added that the Spanish giants will be willing to offer between €35 million and €40 million, including add-ons, to secure the services of Gravenberch in the summer.
As things stand, the 19-year-old prodigy will enter the final year of his Ajax contract in the summer. So, an offer worth around €40 million could be enough for Real Madrid to prise Gravenberch away from the Dutch giants. It remains to be seen if the transfer materialises ahead of the 2022/23 season.
