Chelsea are reportedly prepared to submit a bid worth €80 million to sign 20-year-old Brazilian attacker Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid.
According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Chelsea will step up their efforts to sign Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid in next summer’s transfer window. The Blues are readying an offer worth around €80 million, with Los Blancos likely to open negotiations for the 20-year-old forward.
Rodrygo Goes joined Real Madrid in a big-money deal from Santos FC in July 2019. While the Brazilian attacker has shown plenty of promise, he has also blown hot and cold after a strong start to life at the Spanish club. As a result, the Brazilian attacker has had to share game time with Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard and Lucas Vazquez, with Vinicius Jr. nailed on as the left-winger.
To date, the 20-year-old has made 79 appearances for Real Madrid, amassing 11 goals and 14 assists in the process. However, Rodrygo’s status as a rotation option has left him frustrated, and he could seek a summer move away from Real Madrid. Such a situation has alerted Chelsea.
Chelsea could enter the transfer market for an attacking reinforcement amid the uncertainties surrounding the futures of Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic. Recent reports have claimed that the Blues are ready to sell Pulisic, while Ziyech has been linked with AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona.
As a result, the Premier League heavyweights have been heavily linked with several attackers, including Florian Wirtz, coincidentally a target for Real Madrid. And Rodrygo Goes is also a viable target for Chelsea, who are ready to step up their efforts to sign him next summer.
The west Londoners have already had a bid worth €50 million rejected by Real Madrid. However, Chelsea will soon table an offer of around €80 million to prise the 20-year-old Brazilian forward away from Real Madrid. Such a sum could be enough to turn Florentino Perez’s head, prompting him to engage in negotiations with Chelsea.
For his part, Rodrygo is also open to joining Chelsea, although he has also recently been linked with Liverpool. If the Reds are ready to match their rivals’ €80 million offer, a major transfer battle could be set up. It remains to be seen what the future holds for Rodrygo, who could force a move away from Real Madrid if they sign Kylian Mbappe.
