Transfer News: La Liga quartet eyeing loan move for Bryan Gil

Cadiz are ready to rival Real Sociedad, Valencia and Sevilla in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil.

According to Fichajes, Bryan Gil is set for a January exit from Tottenham Hotspur. The winger is desperate to get some regular game-time under his belt and is, therefore, open to a potential short-term loan deal. It has alerted a number of clubs, especially from Spain, with Cadiz recently joining Sevilla, Valencia and Real Sociedad in the race to sign the Spaniard.

Gil joined Tottenham only five months ago, in the summer transfer window. The youngster has an excellent relationship with Sergio Reguilon, whose influence was critical in helping the club facilitate the transfer.

However, as we head towards the halfway point of the campaign, Gil has endured an underwhelming start to life in England. The forward has mustered only 54 minutes of league action, failing to earn even a single start in the Premier League. It appears he has fallen behind Son Heung-Min, Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn in the pecking order.

After a horrid start to the season under Nuno Espirito Santo, many believed Gil was set to make his breakthrough under Antonio Conte. But the 20-year-old is yet to feature in a single league game under the Italian mastermind, which has drawn in speculations surrounding his long-term future at the club.

His former club Sevilla have already tried to sign the Spaniard on a loan deal in January, as Monchi looks to find a replacement for the injured offensive duo of Suso and Erik Lamela. However, it seems the Spanish giants have moved on, especially amid reports suggesting an imminent move for Anthony Martial.

Another Spanish club linked with a move for Gil is Real Sociedad. While Los Txuri-Urdin may not have any injury issues as such, they are facing a battle to keep hold of star player Mikel Oyarzabal amid interest from Manchester City. That is where the Tottenham youngster comes into the fray, although it seems Imanol Alguacil’s men are set to face stiff competition from Cadiz.

Although not of the same stature as Sevilla or Real Sociedad, Cadiz believe they can land Bryan Gil in January, as they can offer him guaranteed game-time during the second half of the campaign. Most importantly, the relegation strugglers are unlikely to make any attempts to sign the player on a permanent deal. With Valencia also in the mix, the race to sign Gil on loan is heating up.

It could be an appealing prospect for Tottenham, who will be keen on keeping hold of the Spaniard for the long-term, given his sheer potential. In the immediate future, though, a short-term loan deal remains the best option for the youngster, as he looks to redeem himself after a difficult start to the new season.
