Everton are reportedly tracking the progress of RSC Anderlecht winger Francis Amuzu, who is also a transfer target for Scottish champions Rangers.

According to a report from L’Avenir, Everton are keeping tabs on the development of RSC Anderlecht’s 22-year-od winger Francis Amuzu, who is also a target for Rangers and Wolfsburg.

Amuzu signed for the Anderlecht youth academy in 2015 and has enjoyed a steady rise through the ranks. The attacker made his first-team debut for the Belgian giants back in 2017 at the age of 18 and has grown into a regular player for the side, racking up 130 appearances over the years, although nearly half of them have come as a substitute.

A tally of just 11 goals and 15 assists does not exactly stand out, but the 22-year-old has shown a lot of promise with his all-round abilities and has looked good in bursts under current manager Vincent Kompany this term. In 24 matches across all competitions in 2021/22, Amuzu has produced a haul of four goals and assists apiece, although he is yet to nail down his spot as a regular starter.

Nevertheless, Amuzu’s potential has attracted interest from clubs outside Belgium, with Scottish champions Rangers taking a liking towards the Belgian while Bundesliga giants Wolfsburg are also keen. Now, Everton have also joined the hunt for the 22-year-old as they keep track of his progress with Anderlecht.

Everton bolstered their wide areas in the summer with the low-cost signings of Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray, both of whom have performed well for Rafael Benitez’s side. Youngster Anthony Gordon has also stepped up for the team when needed, but the same cannot be said about Alex Iwobi, who continues to be underwhelming since his big-money move from Arsenal.

So, it would make sense for the Toffees to look to add another talented, young winger to their ranks. However, it might not be an immediate priority for Benitez in January as the club have other areas that need reinforcements. Nevertheless, Everton are keeping tabs on Amuzu, who has two goals from 14 caps for the Belgian Under-21 national team.

The 22-year-old is contracted with Anderlecht until 2024, and the Belgian giants do not wish to sell him right away. Instead, they are hoping to continue developing the winger into a top prospect at the club before offloading him for a massive fee in the future, as per the report.

As of now, Everton are only tracking Amuzu, and it remains to be seen if they decide to sign him in the future. There will, however, be movement at Goodison Park in the January transfer window, with Vitaliy Mykolenko set to sign imminently, while Lucas Digne is expected to be on his way out.
