Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, who is a transfer target for Barcelona, is reportedly interested in securing a return to boyhood club PSG.

According to a report from El Nacional, Barcelona are set to face a setback in their pursuit of Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman, who is ready to reject them in favour of a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Coman is a product of the PSG youth academy and made four senior appearances for the club before moving to Juventus in 2014. A year later, he signed for Bayern Munich initially on a two-year loan deal, with the move being made permanent in the summer of 2017.

The Frenchman has not had it easy in Bavaria, having first had to battle with Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery for playing time and now with Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane. Injuries haven’t been kind to the 25-year-old either, who has made 217 appearances for Die Roten, scoring 46 goals and registering 52 assists.

Coman has endured an injury-riddled campaign this time as well, starting just six Bundesliga games so far. The French international is out of contract in the summer of 2023, and Bayern are hoping to tie him down to a new deal but are yet to taste success in their endeavours. As he enters the final year of his contract next summer, clubs are queuing up to sign him up at a bargain price.

Barcelona, too, are among the admirers of the 25-year-old winger. Manager Xavi Hernandez is on the lookout for wide players to add to his roster amid question marks over the future of Ousmane Dembele, who is out of contract at the end of the season and, interestingly enough, has emerged as a target for Bayern Munich to replace Coman.

Barcelona are already believed to have made an approach for the Frenchman but are now set to face rejection from the 25-year-old. This is because Coman is seeking a return to his boyhood club Paris Saint-Germain as per the report mentioned above.

It is claimed that the 36-time capped France international is hoping for a chance to play with former Barcelona captain Lionel Messi at Parc des Princes and, as a result, is now set to reject the Catalan giants. The report further states that Coman believes he will get regular playing opportunities at the French capital club as Kylian Mbappe is set to leave for Real Madrid at the end of the season.

So, it seems like Barcelona’s pursuit of Coman will not yield the desired result. It remains to be seen who Xavi & co. bring in to strengthen their frontline in the upcoming transfer windows.
