Chelsea are reportedly ready to launch an offer in the upwards of the €60 million mark to secure the services of Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde.
According to a report from El Nacional, Chelsea are prepared to step up their pursuit of Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde by launching a significant offer of more than €60 million for the Uruguayan.
Valverde has been with Real Madrid since 2016 when he arrived from Penarol. Having spent a season with the club’s Castilla outfit and a year out on loan at Deportivo La Coruna, the 23-year-old has become a regular in the first-team at the Santiago Bernabeu over the past three campaigns.
To date, Valverde has made 119 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring five goals and setting up seven more. He had grown into a vital part of the team under Zinedine Zidane, especially in the previous campaign, but has lost his place in the starting XI under the management of Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian tactician has placed his faith in the experienced trio of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro, which has left Valverde and summer signing Eduardo Camavinga warming the benches more often than not. Indeed, of his 17 appearances in all competitions this term, only eight have been starts in La Liga.
As a result, Valverde is believed to have grown frustrated and considering his options for the next season if Luka Modric signs a new contract with Real Madrid. Alerted by the development, Chelsea are ready to swoop the Uruguayan international away from Real Madrid.
The Blues will be needing reinforcements in the middle of the part in the summer as N’Golo Kante is struggling with injury problems while Jorginho’s flirtations with a possible return to Italy continue. With Saul Niguez unlikely to be signed permanently after a poor start to his loan spell, Chelsea could certainly use a midfielder of Valverde’s quality come next season.
To that end, as per the report, the reigning champions of Europe are ready to make a huge offer of over €60 million for his services while also handing him a bumper contract. In addition, the Blues are also willing to promise a central role in the team to the youngster, to lure him away from the Bernabeu.
With Manchester United also in the hunt for his signing and there being interest from the likes of PSG and Bayern Munich, Chelsea will have their task cut out if they wish to snap up Valverde in the summer of 2022.
