Transfer News: Tottenham told to pay €100 million for Dusan Vlahovic

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been told to fork out €100 million to secure the services of 21-year-old Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.

According to a report by Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, Dusan Vlahovic is set to remain at Fiorentina until the end of the season, with his departure from the Serie A club expected in the summer transfer window. However, suitors, including Tottenham Hotspur, will need to cough up €100 million to secure his services.

Dusan Vlahovic joined Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in July 2018 and made gradual progress in the first two years of his stint with the Serie A outfit. However, the Serbian international has morphed into a goal machine in 2021. After strongly ending the 2020/21 season, he has been on a tear in the first half of the ongoing campaign.

The 21-year-old has 17 goals and two assists in 18 appearances across all competitions this season, starting every single game played by Fiorentina thus far. However, the Vlahovic has no intention of extending his stay at the Serie A club beyond this term and will seek a new challenge. Such a situation has piqued the interest of several bigwigs of European football, including Tottenham.

The interest from Tottenham makes sense, considering Harry Kane continues to face an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In addition, the England captain’s form has been the subject of major concern for the club’s fanbase and Antonio Conte.

With Dane Scarlett deemed one for the future, Spurs need an immediate solution to their goalscoring woes, with Vlahovic a viable target. However, the competition for the 21-year-old striker is intense, with Tottenham reportedly having Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Arsenal also in his pursuit.

But signing Vlahovic will cost a premium, with Fiorentina demanding €100 million in exchange for his services. In addition, the Serie A club has made it clear that the Serbian striker will not be allowed to leave in the January transfer window, with only a summer exit expected.

So, for now, all that remains certain is that the second half of the 2021/22 season will signal the final few months at the Artemio Franchi Stadium for Vlahovic. What remains to be seen is if Tottenham can beat the competitors to the 21-year-old’s signature and whether they are prepared to pay €100 million to land him.
