Barcelona will reportedly demand around €20 million to cash in on Ousmane Dembele, a target for Paris Saint-Germain.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Ousmane Dembele could be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window following Barcelona’s ouster from the UEFA Champions League. However, the French giants will need to shell out €20 million to secure the services of the 24-year-old forward.

Ousmane Dembele joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in August 2017, with fans and pundits viewing him as a possible long-term replacement for Neymar, who had joined Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer. However, a spate of injuries has blighted the Frenchman’s spell with Barcelona, curtailing his game-time considerably.

To date, the 24-year-old has made 123 appearances for Barcelona, amassing 30 goals and 21 assists in the process. However, the Catalan giants are in a precarious position over the long-term future of the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, whose contract with the club is set to expire next summer. Such a situation has alerted several bigwigs of European football, including PSG.

The interest from PSG is understandable, considering Kylian Mbappe is highly likely to leave the club next summer as a free agent, with Real Madrid his touted destination. In addition, Mauro Icardi is facing an uncertain future at Parc des Princes and could be offloaded by PSG in one of the two upcoming transfer windows.

While Dembele will not be a like-for-like replacement for either Mbappe or Icardi, he could fill the boots of Angel Di Maria, who is well into his thirties and approaching the final phase of his career. So, the Barcelona contract rebel is a viable target for PSG, with Les Parisiens now knowing how much they will need to shell out to secure his services.

Barcelona will be demanding €20 million from PSG and other suitors to offload Dembele, who will likely depart Camp Nou in the January transfer window following the Blaugrana’s ouster from the UEFA Champions League.

PSG are ready to launch the offensive for Dembele in the January transfer window, which comes as a major boost for Barcelona. The €20 million recouped from Dembele’s sale could help them inch closer to signing Ferran Torres, who has already reached an agreement with the Catalan giants over a winter transfer. So, it remains to be seen if Dembele’s time at Barcelona ends in January.
