Memphis Depay is reportedly weighing up the possibility of leaving Barcelona and is willing to listen to offers from prospective suitors.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Memphis Depay’s stint with Barcelona could end after just one year. The Dutch forward is considering the possibility of calling it quits at Camp Nou amid the Blaugrana’s eagerness to sign a striker to bolster their attacking unit.

Memphis Depay joined Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer transfer window this year after running down his contract with Lyon. The 27-year-old forward’s capture was seen as a coup, considering he was a talismanic figure for Les Gones for several years.

However, the transfer has not panned out as envisioned by Depay or Barcelona, with the Dutch international amassing eight goals and two assists in 20 appearances across all competitions. While the tally is not poor by any stretch, it is worth noting that Depay is the biggest source of goals for Xavi at the moment.

Keeping that in mind, Depay’s output is certainly questionable, especially considering how prolific he was for Lyon. Recent reports have also suggested that Barcelona could consider the possibility of cashing in on Depay in next summer’s transfer window, as his contract has a little over 18 months left to run out.

There has been no shortage of interest in Depay, though, with AS Roma and Paris Saint-Germain keen on signing him. And now, the 28-year-old is warming up to the idea of leaving Barcelona, with his struggles in recent weeks leaving an indelible mark on him.

Depay has also been left disillusioned by the departure of Ronald Koeman, who was the driving force behind bringing him to Barcelona. And with the Blaugrana in the market for a striker, amid links with Edinson Cavani, Karim Adeyemi and Erling Haaland, Depay has concerns over his long-term future in the first-team setup.

Hence, the Dutch international is now weighing up the possibility of calling it quits at Barcelona and is willing to listen to offers from prospective suitors. What now remains to be seen is if any club comes forward with a substantial offer to tempt Barcelona and Depay in next summer’s transfer window, with his stint being far from fruitful.
