Transfer News: Real Madrid consider selling Dani Carvajal

Real Madrid are reportedly pondering selling key defender Dani Carvajal due to the drop in his levels in the past year.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Real Madrid are weighing up the possibility of parting ways with Dani Carvajal in next summer’s transfer window. The Spanish giants are dismayed by the fitness issues that have plagued the 29-year-old and are looking to sign a different player profile for the right-back slot.

Dani Carvajal has established himself as one of the best full-backs since returning to Real Madrid from a one-year stint with Bayer Leverkusen. A key figure for Los Blancos in the last eight years, the Spaniard has played a major role in their success during the period.

To date, Carvajal has made 307 appearances for Real Madrid, chipping in with seven goals and 50 assists in the process. However, the 29-year-old has been blighted by several fitness issues in the last 15 months, with his involvement being curtailed greatly.

But Carvajal seems to have overcome his injury woes well in the last few weeks and has established himself as a regular once again. Despite that, though, Carvajal’s future at Real Madrid is not set in stone, as, according to El Nacional, the Spanish giants are considering the possibility of cashing in on him.

As per recent reports, Carvajal is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich over a possible move in a future transfer window. However, no other club has been linked with the Real Madrid defender apart from the Bundesliga champions.

For their part, the Merengues have been linked with several right-backs in recent weeks, with Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong among the players reportedly on their radar. The report claims that Real Madrid are looking at a player profile similar to Ferland Mendy, which could influence the decision to sell Carvajal.

In addition, his injuries woes have also left Real Madrid with no choice but to consider a sale. What now remains to be seen is if the 29-year-old Spanish international is sold by the Spanish giants next summer or if he can enjoy a turnaround in the remainder of the season. For now, the suggestions of selling Carvajal seem preposterous.
