Newcastle United have become the latest club to join the race to sign Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic, who is also a target for Barcelona.

According to Calciomercato, Christian Pulisic has become one of the most in-demand players in the transfer market, as clubs look to prise him away from Stamford Bridge in January. The Chelsea forward is believed to be unhappy with Thomas Tuchel for his lack of game-time and could be set for a move elsewhere.

Barcelona have been heavily linked with a move for Pulisic. However, it appears Newcastle United and Genoa have also joined the chase for the American international, as he looks to take the next step in his career.

Highly regarded as one of the best players in North America, Pulisic joined Chelsea in the summer of 2019. But since his move to Stamford Bridge, the winger has been unfortunate with injury problems. He has recently recovered from an ankle injury that had kept him out for two months.

His frequent time on the sidelines has seen Pulisic lose his value in the Chelsea team. It is especially under the leadership of Thomas Tuchel that the American international has struggled to get the nod ahead of players like Mason Mount and Kai Havertz. He has featured in just three matches in the current season and is unlikely to establish himself as a first-team regular anytime soon.

Pulisic’s precarious situation at Chelsea has put Newcastle United on red alert. The Magpies have been linked with a move for a host of talented players across Europe over the past month, including former Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard.

It appears Eddie Howe has identified the former Dortmund starlet as the ideal man to add the spark in the Newcastle United attack during the second half of the campaign. But with the club dawdling at the bottom of the Premier League table, they have a long way to go before they have any chance of convincing the Chelsea star to make his way to St. James’ Park in the middle of the season.

The situation becomes even more difficult with Barcelona in contention to snap up the Chelsea forward. However, the Magpies certainly have the financial advantage and may still have a shot at landing the American, if they turn things around in December and move into a respectable place in the league table.
