Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski reportedly favours a transfer to Real Madrid even though Jurgen Klopp is keen on a reunion at Liverpool.

According to a report from El Nacional, Liverpool are interested in signing Bayern Munich goal machine Robert Lewandowski in the summer transfer window, but the Polish striker prefers a move to Real Madrid instead.

One of the best strikers of the modern era, Lewandowski has been at the top of his game for years now. Since joining Bayern Munich in 2014 on a free transfer from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund, the veteran striker has plundered 319 goals and created 67 more from 348 appearances, winning a host of trophies and titles.

Despite turning 33 years old earlier this year, Lewandowski has shown no signs of slowing down, having registered a stunning return of 25 goals in just 19 games across all competitions in the ongoing campaign. But with his contract expiring in 2023, the experienced forward is said to be looking for a new challenge in his career and is prepared to leave Bayern Munich next year.

This has alerted Liverpool, who are looking to bolster their attacking ranks to add more quality competition in the No. 9 slot for Roberto Firmino. Lewandowski first flourished in European football under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, and the German tactician is now believed to be keen on reuniting with the prolific hitman at Anfield.

However, as per the report mentioned above, Lewandowski has rejected the idea of moving to the Premier League, dealing a blow to Liverpool’s hopes of landing him. Instead, it is claimed that if he were to leave Bayern Munich, the 33-year-old would prefer to join Real Madrid.

The Merengues are long-term admirers of the Poland captain and have failed with multiple attempts to land him, as per the report. Florentino Perez, as a result, would welcome the opportunity of adding Lewandowski to the ranks, even though Real Madrid’s primary objective for the summer of 2022 is the signing of Kylian Mbappe.

So, the news that Lewandowski is reportedly keen on moving to the Santiago Bernabeu will come as music to the ears of Florentino Perez & co. The report further states that the 33-year-old Bayern Munich superstar has already instructed his agent, Pini Zahavi, to listen to offers coming from the Merengues, while manager Carlo Ancelotti has also given the green light for a deal.

However, with the transfer window still some way, things could change between now and then. For now, though, Real Madrid’s interest in Lewandowski seems to be restricted by the player as well.
