Transfer News: Real Madrid set to sign Gonzalo Sosa

Real Madrid are reportedly inching closer to securing the services of 16-year-old Argentine prodigy Gonzalo Sosa from Racing de Avellaneda.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid are on the verge of securing the services of Gonzalo Sosa. The 16-year-old Argentine whizkid will arrive from Racing Club de Avellaneda and join the Spanish club’s youth setup.

Gonzalo Sosa has spent much of his formative years with Racing Club de Avellaneda and is widely regarded as one of Argentina’s most promising young players. Despite only being 16 years old, the teenage prodigy is already a part of the club’s under-20 side.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, Sosa is revered for his vision and ability to pick out teammates in pockets of spaces. The Argentine whizkid has also drawn comparisons to the legendary Juan Roman Riquelme. And as a result, the youngster has also been attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid.

News of Real Madrid’s interest in Sosa first broke around June, and according to the report by Defensa Central, Los Blancos have been monitoring his progress ever since. The Spanish giants have also been claimed to have had representatives stationed in Argentina to closely monitor his progress and meet his agent, Martin Sendoa.

Sendoa has even confirmed Real Madrid’s interest in the 16-year-old, who has earned the moniker ‘El Talentoso’, which translates to ‘The Talented One’, in his homeland. And the interest in Sosa is hardly surprising, considering the Merengues’ philosophy in Florentino Perez’s time as the club president.

Real Madrid have constantly been on the lookout for some of the brightest young players across the world, integrating them in the youth setup initially before they become first-team stars. Such an outlook has fetched them current first-team regulars like Federico Valverde, Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo Goes.

Of late, Real Madrid have been linked with Brazilian quartet Gabriel Pereira, Gustavo Silva, Talles Magno and Renyer, although Silva does not quite fit in the same profile. And it looks like Sosa could be the latest prodigious talent to join Real Madrid.

With that, Real Madrid are set to beat PSG, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Manchester United to his signature. It will be interesting to see if Sosa can follow in the footsteps of Vinicius, Valverde and others.
