Premier League interest in Manor Solomon remains as we approach the January transfer window, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham keen.
According to TeamTalk, Manor Solomon has eyes from the Premier League watching him intently ahead of a possible move in the January window. Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City are among clubs from England keen on the Israel international, while other major sides could also join the chase.
Manor Solomon surprised many when he moved to Ukraine joining Shakhtar Donetsk when other clubs such as Manchester City approached to sign him from Maccabi Petah Tikva, his club in native Israel. However, at that time, he felt a move to Eastern Europe might aid his development and rightly so.
Solomon has become an important player for Shakhtar since joining them, scoring 20 goals in 96 appearances to date. This season, he has had a slow start, scoring just twice in ten league games. In spite of that, the 22-year-old remains a target for many sides, which could soon tempt him away from the Ukrainian club.
A move in the January window is quite possible, especially if Shakhtar bow out of the Champions League group stage by then. The player might consider moving to the Premier League, as he admitted a desire to play in England back in February.
Arsenal were one of the clubs looking at the wide attacker during the summer window as Mikel Arteta pondered signing a player of a similar profile. The Spanish manager might have been thinking of an alternative to Nicolas Pepe or looking to replace Willian, who left the club in the summer.
The Gunners remain interested in the Israel international, alongside Aston Villa, who are also looking at another attacking option. After spending their Jack Grealish money wisely, Dean Smith would still want a proper wide man to join his attacking unit.
Meanwhile, Tottenham could also join the chase if an opportunity presents itself. Under new technical director Fabio Paratici, the club is looking at young, promising talent to fill attacking roles. Even manager Nuno Espirito Santo wants another wide start to give him a new dimension from that zone and, as a result, are monitoring the 22-year-old.
Spurs currently have Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura, while Bryan Gil is still a young, developing star. Someone like Solomon could hit the ground running, and his assured displays in possession will certainly prove an asset for Santo’s side.
Manchester City could also rekindle their interest in January. Pep Guardiola reportedly has been following Solomon’s progress for some time now, and if he becomes available, the Premier League champions might make an offer. He will find it tough to get into the starting lineup at the Etihad straight away, although the chance for working under the Catalan manager could be tempting.
Solomon will certainly suit these clubs, who have earmarked signing players with a specific age profile. He would be a long-term investment for any side. If he keeps his performance levels up at the very best, he might get his big move soon. It remains to be seen how much Shakhtar might demand from prospective suitors for Solomon. The winger has a long-term contract, so getting him at a discounted price might be difficult.
