Transfer News: Juventus ready to sell Adrien Rabiot to Newcastle for €30 million

Juventus are prepared to sell Adrien Rabiot in the January transfer window to Newcastle United, if they can cough up €30 million for the Frenchman.

According to Tutto Juve, Juventus are ready to sanction a sale of Newcastle United target Adrien Rabiot in January. The Bianconeri are demanding at least €30 million for the 26-year-old French midfielder as they are hoping to save up his massive salary and direct it towards potential recruits.

Adrien Rabiot is finding it hard to get a consistent number of games in a Juventus shirt. The midfielder has seen his place come under threat since the arrival of Manuel Locatelli and his blossoming partnership in the middle with Rodrigo Bentancur.

Even then, Rabiot has featured in five of the club’s seven games in Serie A this season, completing 90 minutes on three occasions. The 26-year-old may prefer to play as a bonafide central midfielder but is often starting slightly wide off the middle.

The major issue might be from Juventus, who are paying a hefty salary to the French international. The Bianconeri, among other Serie A clubs, are still reeling from the financial impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, and might want to invest his wages onto another potential target.

Juventus have Aurelien Tchouameni in their sights, as the Frenchman has become one of the sought-after talents coming out of Ligue 1. While Juventus will be vying for the midfielder alongside some of the biggest clubs across Europe and England, they feel confident of completing a deal.

However, with finances tight at the moment, they might not be able to afford Tchouameni and keep the likes of Rabiot in the same squad. The AS Monaco star might not come cheap, and hence, they are prepared to sell Rabiot in the next transfer window to fund a move, with Newcastle United reportedly keen on signing the 26-year-old.

The Magpies are cash-rich after the conclusion of a high profile takeover recently. With the club already searching for a new manager after sacking Steve Bruce this week, they might start targeting big-name players to join them, beginning from January.

Newcastle are already linked with several high-profile players from across the continent, and Rabiot features on their list quite prominently. The immediate target for Newcastle would be to bring in experienced players with a winning mentality and CV to elevate the club’s stature among the elite of English football.

Rabiot certainly fits the bill, although he might cost around €30 million. On top of that, Newcastle might have to offer him terms that are possibly better than the salary he makes in Turin. A move is certainly possible, and if the Magpies end up paying what’s been demanded by Juventus, Tchouameni could well be on his way to join the Serie A heavyweights from Monaco soon.
