Dean Henderson is ready to quit Manchester United after seemingly giving up any hope of reclaiming his place from David de Gea as the club’s No.1.

According to Fichajes, Dean Henderson is ready to quit Manchester United in search of regular first-team football. The goalkeeper is prepared to leave on loan or permanently, as he’s found it tough to displace current No.1 David de Gea.

Dean Henderson finished last season as Manchester United’s No.1 after a few months of uncertainty surrounding de Gea’s future. The English stopper played in 13 Premier League games along with appearances in cup ties and European competitions.

When the season ended, many believed Henderson would be the club’s new No.1, ahead of long term custodian de Gea. However, when the new campaign began, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer chose the Spaniard between the sticks to the surprise of many, but the former Atletico Madrid star hasn’t disappointed.

De Gea has been credited with some terrific performances this season and deservedly has started all of Manchester United’s games in the Premier League and Champions League. There are no indications whatsoever from Solskjaer the situation might change anytime soon as the Spaniard grows in stature.

Despite the summer arrival of Tom Heaton, Henderson has retained his place as De Gea’s deputy, making just a solitary senior appearance this season. He played in the defeat to West Ham United in the EFL Cup, meaning he will have to wait for either de Gea to get injured or the FA cup to begin for his next possible start.

He may not want to wait until the FA Cup begins and feels the need to quit Manchester United imminently. Henderson has reportedly told the club his desire to leave in January, either on loan or permanently.

If United agree on listening to offers, there may be a queue of suitors from England and abroad. The reports state that the many big teams interested in the summer have already sorted out their keeper situation, although more teams might be coming into the mix in January.

AC Milan are thought to be interested after the injury to Mike Maignan. They need another quality option in goal as the season is still young. There could be interest from the likes of Newcastle United among other English sides.

As things stand, Henderson will be raring to leave the club imminently to have any chance of playing regular football. Moreover, he will also have an eye on contention for next year’s World Cup and play regularly for Gareth Southgate’s consideration.
