Transfer News: Iker Bravo on Real Madrid radar

Real Madrid are reportedly eager to secure the services of 16-year-old former Barcelona academy ace Iker Bravo from Bayer Leverkusen.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Iker Bravo is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a potential move in a future transfer window. The 16-year-old attacking sensation is a former member of Barcelona’s famed academy La Masia.

Iker Bravo spent much of his formative years with Barcelona, having joined the club’s fabled academy La Masia early in his youth playing days. However, like many before him, the young striker chose to call it quits at Barcelona before graduating from their academy.

The 16-year-old joined Bayer Leverkusen from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, with the thought process being that he can secure a quicker pathway to first-team football by making his way to the Bundesliga club. That could well be the case for Bravo, considering he has already taken part in first-team training on a few occasions.

The teenage prodigy, though, has primarily featured for Bayer Leverkusen’s under-19 side, managing a tally of three assists in five games so far. However, such has been the early impression made by Bravo that Real Madrid have already come calling for the former Barcelona academy ace.

Real Madrid are well renowned for constantly being on the lookout for the brightest young talent to add to either one of their youth sides or the senior setup. As far as signing players for the first-team or reserve side is concerned, Los Blancos have recently signed Eduardo Camavinga.

In addition, Real Madrid also continue to get linked with several talented teenage prospects who can straightaway join Carlo Ancelotti’s side straightaway, with the likes of Charles de Ketelaere, Benjamin Sesko and Roko Simic on their radar. As for the youth teams, tend to be busy as well.

Recently, the Merengues have been linked with Noel Lopez while also have landed several young prodigious talents such as Manu Romero, Mario Rivas, Jaume Jardi and Bryan Bugarin, among others. Bravo is likely to fit in such a category, although judging by the potential he has shown, the former Barcelona prospect could quickly be a part of the Real Madrid Castilla side.

Having said that, Bayer Leverkusen might be able to offer him a quicker and clearer route first-team action, considering Real Madrid are keen on signing Erling Haaland. For now, though, the 16-year-old has popped up on the Spanish giants’ radar and it remains to be seen if Bravo makes a return to a La Liga club anytime soon.
