Transfer News: Real Madrid told to pay €70 million for Ferran Torres

Real Madrid have reportedly been asked to fork out €70 million to secure the services of 21-year-old Spanish international Ferran Torres.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid now know how much they will have to land Ferran Torres. The 21-year-old Spanish international has been slapped with a €70 million price tag by Manchester City.

Ferran Torres joined Manchester City from Valencia in the summer of 2020 after growing leaps and bounds as a first-team regular for Valencia in his late teens. The move to the Premier League seems to be working out well for the player, who has grown into his role at the Etihad and is now a regular feature for the Citizens.

The 21-year-old has made a strong start to the 2021/22 season as well, with three goals and an assist in seven appearances so far. At the same time, Torres has also become a mainstay in the Spanish national side, even scoring a match-winning brace in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals against Italy. His progress has not gone unnoticed either, with Real Madrid hot on his trails.

The interest from Real Madrid makes a lot of sense in spire of the fact that Kylian Mbappe is a priority target for them. That is because there have been suggestions that Marco Asensio could be offloaded by Los Blancos in one of the next two transfer windows.

In addition, Gareth Bale is set to see out his contract with Real Madrid without being handed a new deal while Eden Hazard’s fitness struggles are well documented. So, even if Real Madrid sign Mbappe, the need to sign another wide attacker could well crop up, making Torres a viable target.

However, Real Madrid will need to pay the big bucks for the 21-year-old, who is valued at €70 million by Manchester City. Meanwhile, the Spanish international recently addressed the rumours surrounding him, insisting that he is focused on excelling for Manchester City.

His €70 million valuation does complicate matters for Real Madrid, who are already set to set aside a major chunk of their budget for next summer to make their move for Erling Haaland. Meanwhile, Barcelona have also been linked with Torres and it remains to be seen if either of the La Liga giants can manage to prise the youngster away from Manchester City.
