Arsenal eye a Bosman move for Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara next summer to shore up his midfield options.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal are already planning plenty of signings next summer, including Boubacar Kamara, on a free transfer from Marseille. The defensive midfielder could be signed to shore up their options in the middle of the pitch.

Arsenal spent considerably in the previous transfer window to sign players of a specific age profile and positions. All those players have been under the age of 23, as they considerably changed their approach in the market. They waved goodbye to the idea of signing players on the cheap due to their value proposition, focusing instead on the long term future of the playing squad.

Mikel Arteta came under intense scrutiny after bringing Willian on a free transfer last summer. The Brazilian failed to perform and was subsequently shipped out. They also conducted similar deals after Arsene Wenger’s departure, making several bad decisions.

However, they have a different approach as Arteta and Edu would only want players that fit their specificity of talent. Arsenal are expected to bring in more names in subsequent windows, and it seems they already have sights on some potential signings.

Interestingly, some names are linked with a Bosman move, starting with links to Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell a few days ago. Now, rumours of a free transfer for defensive midfielder Boubacar Kamara have emerged, with the player sufficiently fitting into Arteta’s age criteria.

His deal with Marseille expires at the end of the season, and there’s no news emerging about a possible renewal. Kamara, 21, has spent his entire career to date at the French side and might be thinking of moving to another league.

Arsenal are expected to look for a midfielder next summer despite signing Albert Sambi Lokonga this summer, who also is of a similar age. However, Arteta might want to bring in a defensive midfielder, and if Kamara is available on a free transfer, he might as well go for it.

Arteta is slowly changing his team’s style to a 4-3-3 and wants a player to sit at the base of his midfield. He views Thomas Partey as someone who could play a key role in an advanced midfield position, although he takes up the holding role more often without an out-an-out anchor.

There’s also interest from Barcelona, Manchester United etc., in Kamara, and by the end of the season, the midfielder would certainly have plenty of options to consider. Arsenal could be an exciting prospect for him, with plenty of young players in the team.

By January, things will be much clearer with the future of Kamara, who can sign a pre-contract with foreign clubs then. Arsenal are an attractive proposition for any player, but if other competitors are serious, they face a tough challenge convincing Kamara to move to north London.
