Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Deportivo La Coruna’s 18-year-old attacking prodigy Noel Lopez after being impressed by his performances.

According to a report from Spanish publication Defensa Central, Real Madrid have set their sights on a move for 18-year-old centre-forward Noel Lopez who has been impressing for fellow Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna.

A product of the club’s youth academy, Lopez rose through the ranks at Deportivo La Coruna and broke into the first-team in the ongoing season. The teenage striker has been making a fine impression in the Spanish third division, already bagging three goals in five appearances, all of which have come from the substitutes’ bench.

On the back of his displays, Lopez has also broken into the Spanish Under-19 setup, making his debut in September earlier this year. The 18-year-old’s progress with Depor has put him on the radars of top clubs in Spain such as Real Madrid as well as Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid, over the summer, showed great focus on recruitment for their youth and reserve ranks. It represents a change in strategy for Los Blancos who are now trying to build stars from within the club and not go out and splash the big bucks to build a Galactico team.

This has seen Real Madrid bring in several young talents with potential such as Manu Romero, Mario Rivas, Jaume Jardi, Bryan Bugarin among various other names. They are continuing to keep an eye out on youth stars across the country and in Europe, having been recently linked to Villarreal’s Yeremi Pino as well as Benjamin Sesko of RB Salzburg.

Now Lopez, too, has emerged as a transfer target for Los Blancos. In fact, an alternate report from Onda Cero goes as far as claiming that Real Madrid have already submitted a contract offer for the signing of the 18-year-old striker, whose contract runs out next year, as they hope to conclude a deal swiftly and beat any other competition.

Another report from Grada3 (h/t Defensa Central) states that Deportivo have no intentions of selling their prized asset. Instead, they are focusing on getting the striker tied up to a new contract, considering that his current deal runs out at the end of the season. It now remains to be seen if Lopez accepts the contract offer from Real Madrid or Depor.
