Real Madrid have reportedly entered the chase for RB Leipzig right-back Nordi Mukiele, who is also a target for Manchester United.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid are the latest club to have shown an interest in signing Nordi Mukiele. Manchester United are also courting the 23-year-old French utility man, who is valued at around €25 million by RB Leipzig.
Nordi Mukiele joined RB Leipzig from Montpellier in the summer of 2018 and has since grown in his role at the Red Bull Arena considerably. Now primarily used as a right-back, the Frenchman has the ability of playing as a centre-back as well as a right wing-back.
To date, the 23-year-old has made 117 appearances for the Bundesliga heavyweights, chipping in with nine goals and seven assists in the process. His progress over the last three years has not gone unnoticed, with some of the biggest clubs in Europe setting their sights on him. As things stand, Mukiele is being tailed by Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Real Madrid appear to be in an urgent need of signing a right-back owing to the recent fitness woes that have hampered Dani Carvajal of late. With Alvaro Odriozola essentially being surplus to requirements and likely to be offloaded once he returns from his loan spell at Fiorentina, the only viable option remains Lucas Vazquez, who is only a makeshift option.
As a result, Real Madrid have been scouring the market for a right-back of late, with the likes of Serge Aurier, Diogo Dalot and Joakim Maehle among several to be linked with them. Manchester United, on the other hand, also appear to be looking for a right-back.
To that end, Mukiele is one of the options to have emerged on the Red Devils’ radar, with the 23-year-old being a viable target. While Aaron Wan-Bissaka has shown some improvements in his output in the final third, he could still do with a strong competitor, which Dalot is not proving to be at the moment.
Apart from Real Madrid and Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also hot on the trails of the French utility man, who is valued at around €25 million by RB Leipzig. What now remains to be seen is if any of the suitors do make their move for Mukiele or if Leipzig manage to keep hold of their key player.
