Everton are reportedly eyeing a double raid on La Liga giants Real Madrid for the signing of Isco and Luka Jovic in the January transfer window.

According to a report from Spanish publication Defensa Central, Everton manager Rafael Benitez is plotting a swoop on his former employers Real Madrid for the transfers of Isco and Luka Jovic ahead of the upcoming winter transfer windows.

Isco has been with Real Madrid since 2013 having arrived from fellow La Liga club Malaga. After enjoying a prominent role in the side in the early years of his spell at the Santiago Bernabeu but has seen game-time diminish over the past couple of seasons.

Things looked very bleak for the Spanish playmaker under Zinedine Zidane and while he has been afforded minutes by Carlo Ancelotti he is still not exactly a regular starter and is said to be looking for an exit in January, with there being interest from several quarters.

Luka Jovic also finds himself in a similar boat as Isco, having struggled to get any meaningful playing time since his arrival in 2019. When he has been afforded the chances, the Serbian striker has failed to take those. His loan spell with Eintracht Frankfurt in the second half of the last season also failed to pay dividends.

With Karim Benzema the undisputed starter as the No. 9, Jovic is unlikely to get much starting opportunities and with Real Madrid looking to make additions to their attacking department in the near future, his long-term future remains uncertain.

Now, Everton are looking to provide an escape route to both the Real Madrid stars by attempting to sign them in the January transfer window. The Toffees have made a solid start to the season under new manager Benitez, but could certainly do with a few more additions during the January transfer window after a rather average summer.

With James Rodriguez leaving the club earlier this month and Gylfi Sigurdsson’s alleged suspension, the Premier League outfit could certainly benefit from adding a playmaker of Isco’s ilk and quality would certainly benefit the team. As for Jovic, the Serbian can be a handy cover for Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the team.

While the Toffees did secure the deadline day signing of Salomon Rondon, a younger and more agile option in Jovic could come in handy for the club if they are to push for a top-six finish this season. What now remains to be seen is Everton do make an attempt to secure a move for either or both Real Madrid stars when the mid-season trading period opens.
