Transfer News: Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool interested in Allan Saint-Maximin

Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton are reportedly among the clubs that have set their sights on 24-year-old French attacker Allan Saint-Maximin.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Allan Saint-Maximin is starting to become a highly sought-after player in the transfer market, with a raft of Premier League bigwigs keen on signing him. Among the clubs interested in the 24-year-old Newcastle United attacker are Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool.

Allan Saint-Maximin joined Newcastle United from OGC Nice in the summer of 2019 and has since established himself as a key figure for the Magpies. One of the most electric attackers in the Premier League, the Frenchman has been in fine touch at the onset of the 2021/22 season.

In seven games so far this term, the 24-year-old has a garnered a return of two goals and three assists. His progress over the last two years have captured the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, with three bigwigs in Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool currently keen on securing his services.

The interest from Chelsea is interesting but not unfounded as the futures of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi appear to be uncertain at the moment. With that in mind, the Blues do need to keep their options open and considering a pacy attacker like Saint-Maximin surely does appear to be a prudent step.

As for Everton, they were heavily linked with Saint-Maximin in the summer as well before settling on Andros Townsend, Demarai Gray and Salomon Rondon as their attacking reinforcements. However, with Richarlison’s future up in the air, the Toffees do need to be on the lookout to bolster their attack, with Saint-Maximin a viable candidate to replace the Brazilian international.

Finally, Liverpool are in a precarious position over the prospect of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane being unavailable for around a month at the turn of the year due to their potential commitments for the Africa Cup of Nations. With Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota the only other regulars out in front, the Reds will need to get in a reinforcement, with several options eyed already.

However, Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool will need to wait till the summer to make their move for Saint-Maximin, as Steve Bruce is determined to keep a firm hold on the 24-year-old attacker in a campaign that could see Newcastle flirt with relegation again. With that in mind, it remains to be seen if any of the three clubs make their move in January itself or wait another window to land the Frenchman,
